A million viewers do not equate to a successful video.
I understand why you would think that, because, well, who wouldn’t want a million viewers? But, does that mean that your message is reaching the right people? Does it feel like your message is rotating in this universe we call the world wide web? That the same people see it, but you’re not getting the reach that you really want?
Your message and the impact you want to make is based around your personal struggles, lessons, and pain, and you want to shout out across the internet, I can help you! You hope it will be seen by hundreds, thousands, millions of people because what you’ve learned is so valuable to your growth and you want others to experience the same life-changing transformations you’ve made. After all, these lessons have changed your life and because you want to change the lives of other people around you, you’re hoping it will gain the traction so it will reach more people and change more lives.
The truth is, no matter how powerful and encouraging the message is, if you’re reaching thousands, even millions of viewers that aren’t ready to hear the story, it will fall on deaf ears, never making the impact you hoped it would. Discouraging, I know. But, does that mean you should give up? No, absolutely not!
Never underestimate the power of planting a seed, and if one person hears your message and it is exactly what they needed at that moment for the circumstance they’re faced with, you’ve created a true believer. And the power of one true believer supersedes a million passive viewers every time.
I want you to stop believing the more people you reach, the more impact and validity your message has. I want you to believe that your message is already valid, that you already make the impact, and the right people will naturally gravitate toward you to become a community of leaders working towards the same vision, believing in the same purpose.
If you don’t adopt this mindset you risk compromising your authenticity to gain more viewers. You’ll be tempted time and time again to fall into what’s currently trending to serve an audience that doesn’t serve your vision.
