Instagram stories are still a big mystery to a lot of people, but using them can make a huge difference in the growth of your YouTube channel.
So I want to talk to you today about all the ways that you can take advantage of the Instagram platform and promote your channel through your Instagram stories. But before we jump into some Instagram hacks, I want to make sure I tell you about the free resource linked in the video description. If you want to learn about how you can create 60 days of content in just eight hours, check out the link when this video is over.
Every week I’m posting content about how you can grow your YouTube channel and monetize, make an impact and a profit. So make sure you subscribe, like this video, comment so you get more awesome videos every single week.
So every week, when I put out a YouTube video, what I do is I will make a little teaser video. So imagine like when you go to the movie theater, and you’re about to watch a movie on the big screen, and you see all these trailers before the movie comes on, and they get you hooked. You see the next like Star Wars movie or the next awesome Tom Hanks movie coming out, and you’re like that looks amazing, I can’t wait to see it. It’s because they’ve really hooked you in with that trailer, or what we’re calling in this case, a teaser. So I like to make little teaser videos and on Instagram stories, you can put Instagram stories that are about 15 seconds. Although you can put more back-to-back. So even if you wanted to have one that’s like a whole minute long, just have four 15 second little videos back-to-back.
And if you have over 10 thousand followers on your Instagram, you can link from your video so that your viewers can swipe up and it will automatically redirect them to your YouTube video. So that’s what I do every time I put out a YouTube video is I will make a little Instagram story where I have a trailer or a teaser about the video, and then say swipe up to watch the full video. I’ll usually just put text on the screen that says swipe up to watch. Another thing you can do is also just talk about the video. You don’t necessarily have to edit a full video into like a trailer. But you could just talk about it. Just say hey, I just did this video on my YouTube channel, and what I always recommend doing is leave an open loop. Leave a hook that leaves people wanting more.
So if you can leave that hook, leave that open loop that makes people go what is happening or what’s the answer, that’s going to be really intriguing. Recently, I was following there’s a Canadian comedic family, the Eh Bee Family, and what’s so mysterious about them is they haven’t revealed their names. So it’s kind of a silly thing but when the young boy, who his character name is Mr. B, he posted something recently that said, in this video, I reveal my real name. Hello, I really wanted to go watch that video just out of curiosity to find out what his real name was. Even just think of when you’re watching a TV show or think of soap operas. They’re the best at this. They leave this big, dramatic cliffhanger and then go to commercial. And it makes you sit through the commercials so that you can watch or if you’re lucky, you can fast forward, and you really want to see what happens next.
So if you can do that in your teasers and redirect the traffic to your YouTube channel, you are winning. Another thing that I really like to do is contests or giveaways. So if you can do an Instagram specific giveaway that prompts people to subscribe to your YouTube channel, another way to get more subscribers and views.
So if you on your Instagram stories, maybe you do something like a quiz, or you say hey, watch this new video, and find this answer. I talk about it in my channel or in this video. That can get people to go over to the channel, watch the video, fall in love with your charismatic personality, and it gets people to the channel where is exactly where you want them to be. In addition to the teasers and upcoming promos of your YouTube videos, another thing that I like to do is almost plant seeds for what’s going to be coming on the YouTube Channel.
So if I’m talking about maybe a subject that people commonly have that question in mind, or they’re asking me that question all the time, or it’s something that like is trending, especially when you look at like Google Trends, and if you want to make a video about something that’s you know, popular in pop culture right now, that’s a really great opportunity to talk about it in your Instagram stories and then say hey, by the way, I have a video coming up this Tuesday where I’m going to go more in-depth on this, and get people starting to expect it and looking forward to it.
