Ultimately, entrepreneurship is all about finding solutions. As entrepreneurs, we discover problems, find solutions, and offer those solutions to other people. Today, I want to talk a bit about that entrepreneurial trend in my life, and how I’ve found and offered solutions even before I became an entrepreneur.

When I was a kid, I was really insecure about my smile. I thought it was too gummy. Someone in my life even made a comment like, “you’re pretty – it’s too bad about your smile”.

I definitely took that to heart. My smile bothered me for years, but I eventually grew into it. But I would often think about other kids who maybe felt insecure about their smiles, and how sad it is that people can make you feel like your smile – this facial expression that literally represents your happiness – isn’t good enough.

That’s part of the reason why I became a dental hygienist! I wanted to help people feel better about their smiles, and work in an environment that encourages health in that way.

Obviously, I eventually realized that dental hygiene wasn’t my true passion, and started work on becoming an entrepreneur – but when I reflect back on it, there’s a certain amount of entrepreneurial spirit in my choice to become a dental hygienist.

I had an emotional connection to it and a desire to provide a solution.

That same mentality is what led me to become an entrepreneur, and then reinvent my service offering. As soon as I discovered the power of video marketing for myself by creating videos to market my social media marketing business, I immediately started helping my clients promote their businesses using video. It’s that same idea of discovering a problem, finding a solution, and sharing it with others.

It’s funny looking back on your life and making those kinds of connections. When I was in school for dental hygiene, I didn’t really think about that past insecurity about my smile. I was thinking about finding a secure job that paid well, offered benefits, and so on. But in retrospect, I realize that I could relate to the people in that dentist’s office who were there to improve their dental health and improve their smiles.

It makes me wonder about the hardships and problems I’m facing right now – I’m sure I’ll look back on them years from now and realize what they were teaching me or making possible for me.

If you want to plant the seeds for the future version of yourself, I have a great suggestion for you – the next 21 Days To Infinite Video Impact challenge is starting up again soon!
